Savannah Moon Review: Great Food, Dim Lights, Worth It

Savannah Moon

Surprisingly Good Food, Very Dim Lighting, and a Wait That Pays Off

Some restaurant visits are planned days in advance. Others happen the way travel often does—one moment you’re finishing a massage, the next you’re looking for a nearby place to eat, and you end up discovering something unexpectedly good. That’s exactly how we found Savannah Moon.

We passed by this restaurant after our massage and decided to give it a try. At first glance, the place didn’t instantly feel like a sure win—mostly because it was very dim inside.

It was dinner time, and the lighting was so low that we didn’t even feel like walking around much. The darkness made the space feel a bit hard to navigate, and later on, it became even more noticeable in the washroom.

But once the food arrived, we were genuinely surprised—in a good way.

First Impressions: Cozy, But Extremely Dim

Let’s start with the biggest drawback: the lighting.

Savannah Moon is very dim, especially during dinner. Some restaurants go for low lighting to create a romantic or intimate mood, and that can work—when the balance is right. Here, it felt a little too dark, to the point where it affected comfort. We didn’t walk around the restaurant because it was difficult to see properly.

The washroom was also very dark, which was uncomfortable. That’s one thing I hope they improve because it’s a simple fix that would instantly elevate the experience.

Still, the atmosphere otherwise felt calm and relaxed, and we were curious enough to stay and try the food.

What We Ordered at Savannah Moon

We ordered a mix of drinks and mains, and this is where Savannah Moon impressed us.

Green Savah

We tried the green savah (as listed on the menu). It was a refreshing option and paired nicely with the meal. It’s the type of drink that works well when you want something light and easy to sip alongside flavorful food.

Fruit Juice

We also ordered fruit juice, which was straightforward and refreshing—good to have on the table, especially if you’re eating something spiced.

Pork Ribs (Marinated)

The pork ribs were a standout. They were marinated and flavorful, and the taste was surprisingly good—better than we expected from a random stop after a massage.

The seasoning felt well-done, and the ribs were satisfying and hearty. This was one of those dishes that makes you pause because you weren’t expecting it to be that good.

If you go to Savannah Moon, the pork ribs are worth ordering.

Spiced Fish in Banana Leaf

The spiced fish wrapped in banana leaf was another highlight. The banana leaf preparation adds aroma and helps keep the fish moist, and the flavors were well-balanced. It tasted fresh and thoughtfully seasoned, and it felt like one of those dishes that represents local cooking techniques in a more refined way.

This dish was a pleasant surprise—flavorful, comforting, and memorable.

Price: Very Reasonable for the Quality

One of the biggest positive points about Savannah Moon is the price.

For how good the food tasted, the prices felt very reasonable. It didn’t feel overpriced or like you were paying purely for ambiance. In fact, considering the portion quality and taste, it felt like solid value.

Service Time: Slow, But Worth Waiting For

Now, the trade-off: serving time took longer than expected.

It felt like there weren’t many workers, so the food took time to arrive. If you’re someone who gets impatient when meals take too long, this is something to keep in mind. But in our case, once the food came out and tasted as good as it did, it felt worth the wait.

If you visit Savannah Moon, it’s best to come with the mindset that you might wait a bit—but the food makes up for it.

Overall, our experience at Savannah Moon was good.

The biggest downsides were the very dim lighting—especially in the washroom—and the longer wait time for food. But the food was surprisingly delicious, reasonably priced, and satisfying enough that we’d still recommend the place.

If you’re passing by and want a restaurant with good-tasting dishes at fair prices, Savannah Moon is worth trying. Just be prepared for low lighting and a bit of waiting—then enjoy the meal, because it really does deliver.
