A Full Dining Experience with Friends at Davao’s Famous Overlooking Spot

There are food trips you plan carefully…
And there are food trips na biglaan — the kind where someone says,
“Gusto ko ng hangin. Tara, Vista View tayo.”

And that’s exactly how our visit to Vista View in Davao City (Shrine Hills) happened.

vista view

No agenda.
No fancy celebration.
Just friends craving food, kwento, and a good overlooking city view.

Spoiler: This visit reminded us why Vista View in Davao continues to be one of Davao’s chillest go-to spots for comfort Filipino dishes and relaxing late-afternoon hangs.

This is our full review, based on what we ordered:

  • Sinigang na Kambing
  • Sinuglaw
  • Sisig
  • Avocado Shake
  • Mango Shake

Now let’s dive in.

THE LOCATION & VIBE: WINDY, RELAXING, AND OVERLOOKING

Vista View in Davao sits high in Shrine Hills, one of Davao’s most popular spots for overlooking views. The moment we arrived, the vibe instantly shifted from “city stress” to “easy Sunday.”

Ambiance Highlights

  • Cool wind brushing your face (lalo na pag late afternoon)
  • Wide overlooking view of Davao City
  • Open-air dining — perfect for chill conversations
  • Spacious seating área good for barkada groups
  • Easy, welcoming, laid-back atmosphere

Vista View is not the type of place where you rush through your meal.
It’s where you stay longer than planned because the view feels therapeutic, especially when you’re with friends.

THE FOOD WE ORDERED: FILIPINO CLASSICS DONE RIGHT

We kept it simple — three Filipino favorites + refreshing fruit shakes.
But simple dishes, when cooked well, can outshine even the most overhyped meals.

Let’s break everything down.

1. Sinigang na Kambing

Rating: 9.6/10

If you grew up in a Filipino household, you know sinigang isn’t just a dish — it’s an emotion.
But sinigang na kambing?
That’s on another level.

Goat meat can be tricky.
Madaling maging matigas.
Madaling maging malansa.
Madaling maging struggle.

But at Vista View in Davao, their version was surprisingly well-executed.

What We Loved

  • Tender meat — hindi siya yung tipo na bubunutin mo pa ng galit
  • Zero malansa taste — well-cleaned and well-cooked
  • Perfectly sour broth — sakto yung asim, not overpowering
  • Generous serving of vegetables — good texture, not soggy
  • Warm and comforting — best paired with rice and good conversation

This dish alone made the trip worth it.

If you have friends who love adventurous Filipino dishes, this is a must-try at Vista View in Davao.

2. Sinuglaw

Rating: 9.7/10

A proud Mindanao dish — sinugba + kinilaw.
And Vista View’s version? Astig.

Flavor Highlights

  • Fresh fish na hindi malansa
  • Balanced acidity from the vinegar
  • Smoky pork that added depth
  • Creaminess that ties everything together
  • Refreshing and addicting — perfect for overlooking weather

It’s the kind of dish that instantly wakes up your appetite.
Maasim, malinamnam, may konting anghang, may konting alat — everything blends beautifully.

If you visit Vista View in Davao and don’t order sinuglaw… honestly, sayang trip mo.

3. Sisig

Rating: 9.3/10

Sisig is comfort food in any Filipino gathering, and the one served in Vista View in Davao is solid.

Why It Works

  • Crispy bits + soft parts = good texture combo
  • Savory and buttery
  • Not too oily
  • Flavorful even without calamansi
  • Great pulutan OR ulam

While not the most unique sisig in the world, it hits the spot — especially when you’re hungry and enjoying the overlooking breeze.

Perfect pang-share with friends.

THE DRINKS: AVOCADO & MANGO SHAKES

Rating: 9.5/10

Fruit shakes at overlooking restaurants either go very right… or very wrong.

But Vista View delivered well.

Avocado Shake

  • Creamy
  • Rich
  • Not too sweet
  • Smooth texture

Mango Shake

  • Fresh flavor
  • Perfect sweetness
  • Refreshing

These shakes felt like dessert and drink in one — especially satisfying after rich dishes like sisig and sinuglaw.

SERVICE: SIMPLE, FAST, AND FRIENDLY

The staff at Vista View in Davao City were:

  • Approachable
  • Quick to serve
  • Helpful with dish suggestions
  • Consistent in checking if we needed anything

No forced friendliness — just authentic, warm service.
The type of service you appreciate pag gutom na kayong lahat.

Service Rating: 9.4/10
