That’s exactly the kind of experience Wild Garlic offers. The place is homey, conducive to long meals, and ideal for dining with family or friends who enjoy trying several dishes on one table.
Our visit to Wild Garlic was filled with a lot of highs and just a few lows. Overall, the food was great, and several dishes truly stood out. While there were minor issues with service speed and drink preparation, the quality of the food itself makes Wild Garlic a restaurant that’s still very much worth visiting—and revisiting.

Hands down, the Crispy Bicol Express was the highlight of the meal and easily became a new favorite.
Bicol Express is known for its bold flavors—spicy, creamy, and savory—and Wild Garlic’s version hits a very good balance. The spice level was just right. It had enough heat to be exciting but wasn’t overwhelming, making it enjoyable even for diners who don’t usually go for extremely spicy dishes.
What really made it stand out was the crispy element. The added texture gives the dish a twist that makes it more exciting than the traditional version. Each bite was satisfying, and it paired perfectly with rice. This is one of those dishes you keep eating even when you’re already full.

The peri peri chicken was another solid order. It’s flavorful, satisfying, and works well as a main dish for sharing. The seasoning gives it enough character without overpowering the palate, making it a good option for diners who want something bold but still balanced.

Baby Back Ribs: A Comfort Food Classic

For our taste, it was a bit too salty. Binagoongan is supposed to be bold and savory, but when the saltiness is too strong, it can overpower the dish and make it harder to enjoy. It wasn’t completely inedible, but it did stand out compared to the other well-balanced dishes on the table.
This might simply come down to personal preference, but it’s something worth noting—especially for diners who are sensitive to overly salty food.
Pistachio Cheesecake: A Dessert Worth Saving Space For
Ending the meal on a high note, the pistachio cheesecake was very yummy and absolutely worth ordering.
The pistachio flavor gives the cheesecake a unique, nutty richness that makes it stand out from more common dessert options. It wasn’t overly sweet, which made it easy to enjoy even after a heavy meal. This dessert felt indulgent without being overwhelming.

Service: Friendly, But Needs Better Timing
While the staff were polite and accommodating, the service was noticeably slow when it came to drinks. Our pitcher of drinks arrived after more than 30 minutes, which is quite a long wait—especially when drinks are usually one of the first things served.
This became more noticeable because some of the dishes were on the spicier side, and having drinks earlier would have improved the overall dining experience.
Drink Issue: Iced Tea Not Mixed Well
Another small but important issue was with the iced tea. The powdered mix wasn’t blended properly, so most of the sugar and powder settled at the bottom of the pitcher beneath the ice.
This resulted in uneven flavor—bland at first, then overly sweet toward the end. It’s an easy fix, but it does affect the overall experience, especially when drinks are meant to balance rich and spicy food.

With better drink timing and improved iced tea preparation, the experience could easily level up. Still, the quality of the food makes Wild Garlic a place worth recommending—especially for those who enjoy comfort food in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
